چکیده
Background: Soybean is an important source of food, protein and oil hence more research essential to increase its yield under different agro-ecological conditions, including stress. In this regard, four popular soybean varieties viz. Shohag, BDS-4, BAU-S/64 BARI Soybean-5 were irradiated using Co60 gamma rays create genetic variation for earliness, higher seed other desirable agronomic traits. Methods: The experiments conducted at Bangladesh Institute Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) Headquarters farm, Mymensingh during 2006-2009 28 elite mutant lines selected evaluation. line, SBM-22 derived from mother variety with 300Gy was found be superior compared mutants. Considering the performance mutants check Soybean-5, evaluated through trials. evaluation trials zones country Rabi season (January April) 2010-2018. Result: Significant variations observed both in individual location over locations all Reactions major diseases insect-pests infestation also studied. Due better SBM-22, applied National Seed Board (NSB) registration as “Binasoybean-6”. Consequently, NSB registered improved 2019 Binasoybean-6 commercial cultivation.

A novel GmFAD3-2a mutant allele developed through TILLING reduces α-linolenic acid content in soybean seed oil
Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) oil typically contains 8% α-linolenic acid that is highly unstable and easily oxidized. This property is undesirable in many food and industrial applications. Genetic strategies for reducing α-linolenic acid content would enhance the commercial value. However, genetic resources for low α-linolenic acid content are limited among natural soybean variations. Micros...
متن کاملHigh-throughput direct regeneration of soybean mutant and common lines from cotyledonary node
Direct regenerations by using mature cotyledonary node as a explants has been shown to be time-saving and convenient strategy for micropropagation of soybean. So we have evaluated regeneration protocol through single shoot using cotyledonary node as a rapid and efficient protocol for two soybean cultivars and one mutant line. Cotyledonary nodes explants obtained from 7-days-old in vitro</em...
متن کاملPotential of a mutant-based reverse genetic approach for functional genomics and molecular breeding in soybean
Mutant-based reverse genetics offers a powerful way to create novel mutant alleles at a selected locus. This approach makes it possible to directly identify plants that carry a specific modified gene from the nucleotide sequence data. Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] has a highly redundant paleopolyploid genome (approx. 1.1 Gb), which was completely sequenced in 2010. Using reverse genetics to ...
متن کاملDirectional Breeding of High Itaconic Acid Yielding Strain of Aspergillus terreus with a New Plate Technique
Itaconic acid is commercially produced by the cultivation of Aspergillus terreus using starch hydrolysate as carbon source. The degree of hydrolysis had a great influence on itaconic acid production which was suitable when corn starch was saccharified at 35 DE. The α-amylase was sufficient to drive the starch hydrolysis to the degree. The agar plate assay with LiCl treatment provided a rapid, s...
متن کاملGenome-based establishment of a high-yielding heterotic pattern for hybrid wheat breeding.
Hybrid breeding promises to boost yield and stability. The single most important element in implementing hybrid breeding is the recognition of a high-yielding heterotic pattern. We have developed a three-step strategy for identifying heterotic patterns for hybrid breeding comprising the following elements. First, the full hybrid performance matrix is compiled using genomic prediction. Second, a...
